Centre Rejects Ronald Rose’s Request for Telangana Cadre Allocation, Orders Return to Andhra Pradesh

*Hyderabad, October 2024* – The Centre has officially rejected the request of D. Ronald Rose, IAS (AP:2006), currently serving as the Energy Secretary of Telangana, for allocation to the Telangana cadre. The decision comes after a reconsideration by a single-member committee led by retired IAS officer Deepak Khandekar, as directed by the High Court.Ronald Rose had sought to be allocated to the Telangana cadre following the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh in 2014, and his representation, dated April 7, 2024, was forwarded to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) by the Telangana government. The reconsideration was part of the process initiated under the recommendations of the Pratyush Sinha Committee, which handled the bifurcation of All India Services (AIS) officers between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.After a personal hearing on June 25, 2024, and reviewing the available records, the Khandekar Committee recommended the rejection of Ronald Rose’s request. The recommendation has since been accepted by the competent authority. As per the directive, Ronald Rose must join the Andhra Pradesh government by October 16, 2024. The Telangana government has also been instructed to immediately relieve him from his current duties and provide a compliance report.This decision marks the conclusion of Ronald Rose’s tenure in Telangana, where he has held several significant positions, including as the Energy Secretary. He will now return to Andhra Pradesh to continue his service.
