This decision comes as a relief to consumers who were concerned about potential hikes in tariffs.ERC Chairman Sriranga Rao stated that the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) rejected proposals from DISCOMs to raise fixed charges significantly for households consuming over 800 units. Instead, the fixed charge will remain at ₹10, providing stability for consumers.The commission reviewed eight petitions regarding electricity pricing and decided to keep rates unchanged, prioritizing the financial well-being of power companies and the subsidies provided by the government.
