In a dramatic turn in the *Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) scam, *Uppal police inspector N. Election Reddy has been suspended. Authorities allege he leaked key investigation details and interfered with the ongoing probe. Official confirmation is still pending.
CID Action Follows Arrest of HCA President
Inspector Reddy’s suspension comes in the wake of significant developments in the case. On *July 9, the *Crime Investigation Department (CID) arrested HCA President Arishnapally Jagan Mohan Rao for alleged governance violations. The CID alleges he pressured Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) regarding complimentary IPL tickets among other irregularities.
IPL Controversy: Ticket Harassment Claims
The HCA-SRH feud originally flared during *IPL 2025, when SRH accused the association of **harassing them over free match tickets. SRH’s General Manager (Sports), *Srinath TB, said that while they had partnered with HCA for over a decade, issues arose in recent seasons.
Under the established agreement, SRH is to allot 10% (3,900 tickets) to HCA, plus access to a *50-seat corporate box. This year, the HCA claimed it received access only to a 30-seat box and demanded extra tickets from another box—an arrangement SRH described as **unreasonable. Reports also state that the HCA partially *locked up the corporate box during a match, creating tense scenes.
Six-Day CID Custody for Key HCA Officials
On *July 17, the case escalated further when a *Malkajgiri court granted six days of CID custody for five HCA officials, effective through July 22. Those in custody include:
- Jagan Mohan Rao (HCA President)
- Srinivasa Rao (Treasurer)
- Sunil (CEO)
- Rajender Yadav
- Kavitha
Four of them were transferred from *Cherlapalli Jail, and *Kavitha from Chanchalguda, to facilitate questioning on HCA’s internal dealings and governance.
