Bengaluru, July 19, 2025:
A vehicle in the convoy of Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar was involved in a serious road accident on Saturday. The mishap occurred while the Deputy CM was traveling from Mysuru to Bengaluru.
According to reports, one of the escort vehicles in the convoy lost control and overturned, resulting in severe injuries to several police personnel. The injured officers were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. Their current condition is being closely monitored by doctors.
Eyewitnesses at the scene mentioned that the sudden swerve of the escort vehicle led to the crash. However, Deputy CM Shivakumar remained unharmed and continued his journey under enhanced security.
Police officials have initiated an internal inquiry to determine the exact cause of the accident. While preliminary assessments suggest mechanical failure or a road obstruction, further details will emerge after a full investigation.
This incident once again raises questions about convoy safety and the stress faced by escort teams, especially during high-speed VIP movements on highways.
