Adilabad Police have busted an alleged Bangladesh-based burglary gang that targeted houses across multiple Indian states by posing as household appliance vendors. The gang reportedly conducted daytime surveillance by pretending to sell cookers and grinders before carrying out thefts at night.
The investigation began after a major burglary at the residence of Adilabad Congress constituency in-charge Kandi Srinivas Reddy in Kailash Nagar under Mavala Police Station limits on July 30.
According to Adilabad SP Akhil Mahajan, the prime accused, Mohammad Jani Ali, illegally entered India from Bangladesh 10–12 times over the past few years. Police identified a gang of 12–15 Bangladeshi nationals allegedly involved in house burglaries across Telangana, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Odisha, and Rajasthan.
Police said the gang surveyed homes during the day while posing as appliance sellers and later broke locks at night to commit thefts. Authorities are also investigating individuals who allegedly assisted the gang by arranging fake identity documents. Details of the remaining suspects have been shared with the Intelligence Bureau (IB), the SP said.
