Chittoor MP Daggumalla Prasada Rao Focuses on Rural Infrastructure and MPLADS Development

Chittoor, September 3, 2026: Chittoor Lok Sabha MP Daggumalla Prasada Rao has stepped up efforts to improve basic infrastructure across the parliamentary constituency, with rural development emerging as a key priority.
According to a press release issued on Thursday, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) MP has focused on using Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) funds for projects at the grassroots level.
The release said Prasada Rao has been working with the encouragement of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The stated focus is on roads, drainage, drinking water, sanitation and other essential facilities.
₹11.9 Crore Recommended Under MPLADS
According to the latest figures cited in the release from YouthPower India, ₹14.7 crore has been allocated to the Chittoor MP under MPLADS.
The MP has recommended works worth ₹11.9 crore covering 199 projects, the release said.
Of these, the district administration has sanctioned ₹9.5 crore for 143 works.
An amount of ₹7.6 crore has reportedly been released so far for 132 works that are either underway or completed.
The figures indicate a strong emphasis on moving development proposals from recommendation to implementation.
Rural Roads and Drainage Get Priority

Around ₹4.71 crore has been allocated for nearly 85 rural development works, according to the release.

The release said 45 electric autos were provided to panchayats in the Puthalapattu and G.D. Nellore Assembly constituencies.
Each e-auto is valued at around ₹3.15 lakh.
The vehicles are intended for environmentally friendly waste collection in rural areas.

The MP’s office has also sought to combine MPLADS resources with funds available under the rural employment programme.
