CM Revanth Reddy Orders Formation of Indiramma Committees by Dussehra, Pushes for Housing Sanctions

*September 26, 2024 – Hyderabad*Chief Minister Sri A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to establish Indiramma Committees across various levels by the upcoming Dussehra festival. These committees, to be constituted at the village/ward, mandal/town, constituency, and district levels, are intended to streamline the housing development efforts under the state’s Indiramma Housing Scheme. The Chief Minister emphasized that every eligible citizen should receive housing benefits under this scheme.During a review meeting held at the State Secretariat on Wednesday, CM Revanth Reddy expressed concern over Telangana’s lag in securing housing sanctions under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) compared to other states, which have received approval for lakhs of houses. The CM instructed the officials to expedite efforts to secure more houses under the scheme and ensure that all pending dues from the Centre are cleared. He also stressed the importance of continuously updating data related to Indiramma houses and urged officials to submit the required information to the Centre without delay.To address the possible manpower shortages in the housing wing, particularly as construction projects scale up, the CM suggested appointing outsourced engineers to accelerate the work. Additionally, he proposed the auction of unsold apartments and houses under the Rajiv Swagruha scheme, stating that pending sales for years was unacceptable, and preparations for the auction should begin immediately.CM Revanth Reddy also inquired about the delays in handing over completed double-bedroom houses to beneficiaries. He directed officials to provide essential amenities in the constructed but idle blocks in Hyderabad and ensure swift distribution to the eligible beneficiaries.The meeting was attended by Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari, CM’s Principal Secretary V. Seshadri, Secretary Chandrasekhar Reddy, Housing Department Secretary Jyoti Buddha Prakash, and Telangana Housing Development Corporation MD V.P Gautam, among other senior officials.
