In a significant political victory, NDA candidate CP Radhakrishnan has been elected as the new Vice President of India. He defeated the opposition’s joint nominee, Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, by a comfortable margin.
Out of a total strength of 781 members, 768 MPs exercised their vote in the Vice Presidential polls. Members of the BRS, BJD, and Shiromani Akali Dal chose to abstain from voting.
According to the *Rajya Sabha Secretary, Radhakrishnan secured **452 votes, while Sudarshan Reddy received **300 votes. Fifteen ballots were declared invalid. With the required majority set at **377 votes, Radhakrishnan sailed through with a margin of *152 votes.
