*New Delhi*: Cybercriminals have launched a new scam under the guise of “family surveys,” tricking unsuspecting victims into revealing sensitive information and losing money. These scammers are sending fraudulent links via text messages, emails, and social media, falsely claiming to be conducting family surveys. Once the link is clicked, victims are at risk of having money siphoned from their bank accounts. In another variation of this scam, cybercriminals are calling people and asking if they have received a One-Time Password (OTP) related to a “family survey.” By manipulating victims into sharing the OTP, scammers can access and drain bank accounts.Authorities are warning the public to remain vigilant against these fraudulent schemes. Individuals are advised to avoid clicking on unknown links, sharing OTPs, or responding to unsolicited survey requests. Experts recommend verifying survey sources and reporting any suspicious links or calls to local cybercrime cells to prevent further incidents.
