India’s Opposition Coalesces: Challenges Modi Govt on Eight Key Issues

New Delhi, July 20, 2025 –

As the Monsoon Session of Parliament commences on Monday, India’s opposition INDIA alliance is mounting a concerted fight against the Modi government. The coalition, comprising 24 parties, convened virtually last night to align strategy on eight critical issues, including the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.

Led by *Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, the meeting saw participation from senior leaders such as **Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, **K.C. Venugopal, **Sharad Pawar, **Uddhav Thackeray, **Sanjay Raut, **M.A. Baby, **D. Raja, and *Omar Abdullah.

Three Main Objectives of the Opposition

  1. Hold the government accountable on national security, foreign policy, and internal matters.
  2. Ensure parliamentary sessions proceed smoothly and constructively, without disruptions.
  3. Press for transparent answers and explanations from the Modi government on the eight outlined issues.

The Eight Key Focus Areas

  • Pahalgam terror attack & progress in investigation.
  • Operation Sindoor demands and outcomes.
  • Ceasefire negotiations with Pakistan: scrutiny on current status.
  • U.S. President Trump’s India-related commercial remarks.
  • Special intensive revision in Bihar voter lists amid citizenship concerns.
  • Constituency boundary realignments (delimitation) debates.
  • Acts of injustice against Dalits, Adivasis, minorities, and women.
  • Ahmedabad plane crash: investigation and accountability.

Opposition leaders have asserted they will raise these critical questions in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Congress MP Pramod Tiwari described the move as a democratic assertion to press for answers and ensure national welfare.
