In a shocking development, an inspector has been accused of facilitating a settlement in a sexual assault case for a sum of ₹6 lakh. The case involves a married woman from Anantapur who reported being sexually assaulted by the inspector, who had promised her a job in Hyderabad. The incident came to light when the victim, distraught, was joined by another woman who claimed to have been similarly wronged by the inspector. Following this, the victim lodged a complaint with the local police, leading to the registration of a case.Further complicating the matter, the inspector allegedly shared the victim’s contact details with a friend, who then harassed the victim under the pretense of offering a job. This led to the registration of an additional case against the accused.Reports indicate that the inspector initially provided misleading information to higher authorities, downplaying the severity of the case and suggesting that the victim was motivated by monetary gain. Subsequently, the inspector reportedly arranged a settlement, demanding ₹6 lakh from the accused. Allegations suggest that the inspector retained half of the settlement money and advised the victim to withdraw her case in exchange for a portion of the funds. The inspector is accused of advising the victim to file a petition to withdraw the case, promising that this would ensure the accused’s safety while closing the case without further complications. This has led to accusations of an unethical compromise between the victim and the accused, raising serious concerns about the integrity of the legal process and the conduct of law enforcement officials.
