A heartbreaking incident shocked residents of Undrajavaram mandal in East Godavari district on Tuesday, when an Intermediate student allegedly ended her life by jumping into a canal near the Dammennu bridge.
The victim, identified as *Poojitha, was reportedly returning home from college in a bus when she complained of feeling unwell. Moments later, she got down near the bridge and *suddenly jumped into the canal, which was in full flow due to heavy discharge.
Despite immediate efforts by bystanders to trace her, *Poojitha’s whereabouts remain unknown. Rescue teams have launched a *search operation with the help of local authorities and police.
Family Background Adds to the Tragedy
According to police reports, *Poojitha had been living with her mother, who works as a daily wage laborer. Her parents reportedly separated when she was just **two years old. Locals said her mother had been *struggling financially to support her daughter’s education and future.
The young girl’s sudden decision has left the community shocked and heartbroken, as she was described as a bright and responsible student.
Police have registered a case based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s mother and are investigating the circumstances that led to the incident.
Investigation Underway
Authorities suspect that emotional distress or personal issues might have pushed the student to take the extreme step. The police have stated that they will also examine college records, phone data, and witness statements to determine the cause.
