Gadwal, Telangana (September 14):
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has thrown a direct challenge to Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, urging him to make defected MLAs resign and face fresh by-elections.
Speaking at a *BRS public meeting in Gadwal, Jogulamba-Gadwal district, KTR accused the Congress government of encouraging political defections. He demanded that the *10 MLAs who switched sides should immediately step down and seek a fresh mandate from the people.
KTR’s Sharp Attack on Defected MLAs
KTR did not mince words while criticising the lawmakers who joined Congress. “The condition of these MLAs is pitiable. They may feel safe for now, but the Supreme Court has taken a serious view on defections,” he said.
He further warned that no matter what Chief Minister Revanth Reddy or the Congress party tries, *by-elections are bound to happen. *“When those elections are held, the people of Telangana will give a strong reply and teach Congress and Revanth a befitting lesson,” KTR asserted.
Political Battle Intensifies in Telangana
The remarks come at a time when political tensions in Telangana are running high, with the issue of defections dominating the debate. The BRS is seeking to regain lost ground after its defeat in the 2023 Assembly elections, while Congress is working to consolidate its power.
KTR’s challenge is expected to escalate the confrontation between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS, potentially setting the stage for a heated electoral battle in the coming months.
