Low-Pressure System Likely in Bay of Bengal on August 25, Heavy Rains Forecast for Andhra Pradesh

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the formation of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal on August 25. The system is expected to bring widespread rainfall to several coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh.

According to IMD, a surface cyclonic circulation is currently active over the *northwest Bay of Bengal along the Odisha–West Bengal coast. This circulation is likely to intensify into a *low-pressure area by August 25.

Heavy Rainfall Alert for North Coastal Andhra

As per the forecast, the system will trigger heavy to very heavy rains on August 26 and 27 in the districts of:

  • Srikakulam
  • Parvathipuram Manyam
  • Vizianagaram
  • Visakhapatnam

Thunderstorms accompanied by strong winds are also expected in isolated areas. Fishermen have been advised to stay away from the sea during this period due to rough conditions.

IMD Advisory

The IMD has urged district administrations and disaster management authorities to remain on alert to handle possible flooding in low-lying areas. Farmers have also been advised to take precautionary measures to protect standing crops from heavy downpours.

This weather system is part of the monsoon revival phase, which is expected to bring significant rainfall to eastern India and improve water levels in reservoirs.
