Pakistan Train Derailment: 29 Injured in Islamabad Express Mishap Near Kala Shah Kaku

At least 29 passengers sustained injuries when the Islamabad Express derailed near Kala Shah Kaku in Punjab’s Sheikhupura district on Friday evening. The incident triggered a *major rescue operation, according to a report by *Dawn.

The derailment occurred close to a *chemical plant, where *five bogies went off the tracks. Punjab Rescue 1122 reported receiving distress calls around 7:32 PM, following which emergency services rushed to the location.

Swift Action by Rescue Teams

In an official statement, Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmed said that six emergency vehicles and 25 rescue personnel were deployed to the accident site immediately. Most passengers suffered minor injuries such as *bruises and scratches, with *no fatalities reported so far.

“Two people were trapped in the derailed coaches. Both have been rescued and shifted to the hospital,” said the spokesperson. One of them reportedly sustained a hip injury.

Twenty-two injured passengers were treated on the spot, while seven others were transported to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Muridke for further medical care.

Series of Railway Incidents Raises Alarm

This accident comes barely a week after another derailment involving the Jaffar Express on July 28 in *Sindh’s Shikarpur district. Initially believed to be the result of an explosion, that incident caused *three coaches to derail and injured at least one passenger.

However, the Pakistan Ministry of Railways later clarified that the derailment was due to a *technical fault, not a blast. The *rumors of terrorism were deemed “baseless” and linked to a little-known group falsely claiming responsibility.

Official Clarification on Jaffar Express Incident

In a statement, the Ministry said:

“An unknown terrorist organization exploited the situation and claimed it was a planned attack. This claim has no merit and is misleading.”

Train operations in the region were temporarily suspended following the Jaffar Express derailment, leaving passengers stranded and facing severe inconvenience.
