Ahmedabad / Gandhinagar, August 25–26, 2025 –
Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a high-impact two-day visit to Gujarat, unveiling projects worth over ₹5,477 crore. He kicked off the event with a vibrant 3 km roadshow from Naroda to Nikol, welcoming crowds at every turn.
Housing & Urban Development
At Ramapir Tekra in Ahmedabad, Mr. Modi inaugurated 1,449 new houses and 130 shops constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). This slum-redevelopment initiative aims to improve living standards through dignified housing.
He also laid the foundation for a six-lane upgrade of the SP Ring Road, developed under a hybrid annuity mode to improve traffic flow and safety.
Water, Infrastructure & Rail Projects
In Daskroi taluka, the PM inaugurated a ₹27 crore water pumping station and a 23 km pipeline that will deliver clean water to 10 villages under Jal Jeevan Mission.
Rail infrastructure also got a boost with a ₹1,400 crore-plus railway package for the region. It includes the launch of a passenger service between Katosan Road and Sabarmati and a freight train carrying cars.
Other Development Highlights
- *Urban Makeover: Projects worth *₹2,548 crore were unveiled in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar, aimed at modernizing roads, sewage systems, and water supply.
- *Green Mobility & Digital Governance: On Day 2 in Gandhinagar, the PM launched India’s **first global strategic BEV, the *e-VITARA, and initiated localized production of hybrid battery components—key steps in advancing India’s battery ecosystem.
Political Context
The roadshow wasn’t just ceremonial. Thousands, including local residents, gathered along the route, showing strong public interest and engagement.
Political analysts interpret this visit as more than infrastructure rollout. It doubles as a strategic effort to build public goodwill and address civic concerns ahead of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation elections.
