Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a grand welcome in his parliamentary constituency, Varanasi, on Thursday as he held a vibrant roadshow from Police Line to Hotel Taj. The streets were packed with supporters, reflecting the strong bond between the Prime Minister and the people of Kashi.
The visit comes at a significant time, as *PM Modi is set to host Mauritian Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, who is on a week-long State Visit to India from *September 9 to 16.
Bilateral Talks to Boost India–Mauritius Ties
Uttar Pradesh minister Dayashankar Mishra highlighted the importance of the meeting, noting that Mauritius is often called the “second India” due to its cultural and historical ties.
“Kashi, the cultural capital of India, is the perfect place to welcome Mauritius Prime Minister Ramgoolam. The talks will further strengthen relations between the two countries,” Mishra said.
During their bilateral discussions, both leaders will review the entire spectrum of cooperation, with focus on:
- Development partnership and capacity building
- Collaboration in health, education, science, and technology
- Expanding energy and infrastructure cooperation
- Opportunities in renewable energy, digital public infrastructure, and the blue economy
Building on March 2025 Momentum
The current engagement builds on the momentum of PM Modi’s *State Visit to Mauritius in March 2025, when the relationship was elevated to an *‘Enhanced Strategic Partnership.’ This visit is expected to take ties to new heights, fostering deeper cooperation in traditional and emerging areas.
