Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR), on October 10-11, at the invitation of Lao Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone. During the visit, PM Modi will participate in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit and the 19th East Asia Summit, both of which are being hosted by Lao PDR as the current Chair of ASEAN.The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed that PM Modi’s visit aims to strengthen India’s strategic and economic ties with ASEAN nations and engage in broader discussions on regional security, economic cooperation, and development. The ASEAN-India Summit will focus on enhancing the existing partnership between India and the ASEAN bloc, including discussions on trade, technology, and cultural exchanges. The East Asia Summit, a forum for dialogue among 18 nations, will address key regional and international issues, including maritime security, digital transformation, and climate change. PM Modi’s participation in these summits underscores India’s commitment to fostering peace, stability, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region.
