PM Narendra Modi Visits Ukraine, Marks First Indian PM Trip Amid Ongoing Conflict

**Kyiv:** Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ukraine for a historic visit after concluding a two-day trip to Poland. This visit, at the invitation of Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Zelenskyy, is the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine and comes nearly six weeks after Modi’s visit to Russia to discuss the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The UN Secretary-General’s office has expressed hope that PM Modi’s visit to Ukraine could potentially contribute to the resolution of the conflict. Although India has not condemned the Russian invasion of Ukraine, PM Modi expressed hope for an early return to peace and stability in the region. He stated, “As a friend and partner, we hope for an early return of peace and stability in the region.”Modi’s visit to Ukraine aims to build on previous discussions with President Zelenskyy about strengthening bilateral cooperation and exploring peaceful resolutions to the ongoing conflict.
