Police Issue Notices to YSRCP Leaders Ahead of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s Visit to Tirumala Temple

*Tirupati, September 27, 2024* — Ahead of YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy’s planned visit to the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala, the district police have issued notices to several YSRCP leaders and party cadre, warning them not to defy Section 30 of the Police Act, which regulates public assemblies and processions.According to a senior police official, prohibitory orders are in force in the district, and the police may issue a similar notice to Jagan himself after he arrives at Renigunta Airport later in the day. The notices are part of precautionary measures to ensure that the prohibitory orders are respected during the high-profile visit. The decision to issue these warnings stems from the circulation of messages on social media platforms urging YSRCP supporters to gather in Tirupati as a show of solidarity with Jagan. The police are concerned that large gatherings could violate Section 30, which is currently in effect across the district.”We have observed several social media posts encouraging people to assemble at various locations in Tirupati. The notices are simply a caution, reminding them not to defy the orders. Jagan Mohan Reddy may also be issued a notice at the airport to avoid violating the prohibitory orders,” a senior police official told PTI.Jagan’s visit comes as part of a statewide temple ritual initiated by the YSRCP, which aims to atone for the alleged ‘sin’ committed by Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who made controversial claims regarding the sacred Tirupati laddus. With heightened security and public order a priority, police forces have been deployed across Tirupati to prevent any disruptions.
