*Hyderabad, September 18, 2024*A disturbing pattern of pediatric deaths has emerged at Hyderabad’s Gandhi Hospital, a tertiary care center, with 241 infant deaths reported so far in the financial year 2024-25. In comparison, the previous fiscal year saw a total of 430 pediatric fatalities. This alarming trend continues to cast a shadow over the hospital’s healthcare services, prompting calls for a comprehensive health audit.In August alone, 41 pediatric deaths were recorded, sparking renewed concerns about the quality of healthcare and resources available for children at the hospital. Along with the high number of infant deaths, 68 maternal deaths have also been reported this financial year, compared to 108 deaths during FY 2023-24.Over the years, the recurring nature of these pediatric and maternal deaths at Gandhi Hospital has raised questions about systemic healthcare failures.
