Six Killed, Two Injured in Tragic Head-On Collision Between Truck and Car in Barabanki, Uttar Pradesh

In a tragic incident that shook the residents of Barabanki, six people lost their lives and two others sustained serious injuries after a truck and a car collided head-on on the Deva–Fatehpur Road late Tuesday evening.

According to *Superintendent of Police Arpit Vijayvargiya, eight people were travelling in the car at the time of the accident, which occurred within the *jurisdiction of Deva Police Station. The impact was so severe that several passengers died on the spot, while the injured were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital.

“Out of the eight people in the vehicle, six succumbed to their injuries. The remaining two were referred to a higher medical centre for advanced treatment,” said SP Vijayvargiya.

The officer added that both vehicles were travelling from opposite directions when the collision took place. Preliminary reports suggest overspeeding as a possible cause, though the exact reason is yet to be determined.

Rescue and Relief Operations

Following the collision, local police and emergency teams reached the scene promptly and carried out rescue operations with the help of locals. The damaged car had to be cut open to retrieve victims trapped inside.

Officials confirmed that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and that an FIR will be registered once initial findings are compiled. Authorities have assured that a detailed investigation will be conducted to determine accountability and prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Eyewitness Accounts

Local residents who witnessed the crash described it as one of the worst accidents in recent months on the Deva–Fatehpur route. “The sound of the collision was deafening. By the time we rushed to the spot, the car was completely crushed,” said one eyewitness.

They also urged the administration to install proper lighting and signage on the road, which has become a frequent accident zone due to poor visibility and speeding heavy vehicles.

Authorities Appeal for Safe Driving

Police officials have once again reminded motorists to follow traffic safety rules, avoid speeding, and stay alert during night drives.
“Most fatal road accidents are preventable. Public cooperation and strict enforcement are key to saving lives,” an officer added.
