Gitanjali J. Angmo, wife of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk, has approached a Division Bench of the Delhi High Court challenging a single-judge order that refused to direct Wangchuk’s transfer from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram.
The Wangchuk, who has been on an indefinite hunger strike at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar since June 28 in support of the youth-led “Cockroach Janta Party” movement, was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital by Delhi Police on July 18 over concerns about his health.
WangcThe appeal contends that the July 19 order infringes upon Wangchuk’s bodily autonomy and permits doctors to override the decisions of a conscious and competent adult regarding his medical treatment.
