State Faces Crisis as Poisonous Fevers Surge; Hospitals Overwhelmed

*Date: August 12, 2024*In a developing health crisis, the state is grappling with a significant rise in cases of poisonous fevers, including dengue and malaria. The surge has led to an alarming situation with hospitals overwhelmed and a shortage of essential medical resources.Recent reports indicate that hospitals are inundated with patients, as the number of cases skyrockets. Currently, the state has recorded 3,000 dengue cases and 6,500 malaria cases. In several districts, particularly in agency areas, there is at least one victim per household, putting immense pressure on local health services. The crisis has led to a dire shortage of hospital beds, forcing many patients to seek treatment at home. Primary health centers are also facing a critical shortage of medication, exacerbating the already challenging situation.Tragically, the outbreak has claimed lives, with two fatalities reported in Asifabad and an 8-month-old baby succumbing to the illness in Ibrahimpatnam. In response to the crisis, there are growing concerns among residents about the lack of effective mosquito control measures. Many have reported that fogging operations, which are essential for controlling mosquito populations, have been insufficient or absent. The state health authorities are under intense pressure to address the shortage of medical supplies, improve hospital capacities, and enhance vector control efforts to mitigate the outbreak.
