Hyderabad, Aug 23, 2025:
Telangana ministers have assured farmers that there is no shortage of urea in the state and urged them not to panic over opposition claims. The government is taking all necessary measures to ensure smooth fertilizer supply during the ongoing crop season.
High-Level Review at Secretariat
A review meeting was held on Saturday at *Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat, chaired by *Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao and *Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu, along with officials from the *Agriculture Department, Industries Department, and Ramagundam Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited (RFCL).
The ministers expressed concern that the *RFCL Ramagundam plant operated only 40 days out of 145 days this season, leading to disruption in local fertilizer supply. They questioned RFCL CEO *Alok Singhal on why permanent measures were not being taken to prevent such frequent shutdowns.
Telangana Must Get Equal Priority
The ministers emphasized that Telangana should not be treated differently from other states. Until full-scale production resumes at the Ramagundam plant, RFCL’s parent company NFL (National Fertilizers Limited) was asked to supply at least one rake of urea daily from its other plants to Telangana.
They assured that if RFCL faced challenges, the state government would coordinate with the Union Government to resolve issues and safeguard the interests of farmers.
Action Plan for Plant Revival
The action plan for reviving urea production at RFCL was reviewed, with clear instructions issued for faster implementation. The ministers reminded the management that the state government considered RFCL not merely as a business unit, but as a partner in Telangana’s agricultural growth.
Farmers Urged Not to Panic
Rejecting opposition parties’ criticism, the ministers appealed to farmers not to worry about fertilizer shortages. They reiterated that daily supply arrangements were being made until Ramagundam operations stabilize.
The meeting was attended by *Special Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, **Agriculture Secretary Raghunandan Rao, *RFCL Ramagundam Unit Head Rajeev, and other senior officials.
