Telangana Govt Extends Financial Support to 278 Minority Women in Rangareddy
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has extended financial assistance to minority women and livelihood support to members of the Turk Kasha Muslim community in Rangareddy district.
Minority Welfare Minister Mohammed Azharuddin distributed the assistance on Wednesday.
He was joined by Telangana Minorities Finance Corporation (TGMFC) Chairman Mohammed Obedullah Kotwal during the programme.
₹50,000 Assistance for 278 Minority Widows
Under the Indiramma Minority Mahila Yojana, the minister handed over cheques to 278 minority widowed women.
Each beneficiary received financial assistance of ₹50,000.
Azharuddin said the support aims to improve the livelihoods of women and their families.
He added that the assistance can help beneficiaries strengthen their financial position and pursue self-employment opportunities.
The minister urged women to make full use of government welfare schemes.
These include sewing machines, generators, tool kits and other livelihood support initiatives.
Generators and Tool Kits Distributed to Turk Kasha Community
The minister also distributed livelihood equipment to members of the Turk Kasha Muslim community.
Under the rehabilitation scheme for the community, 13 beneficiaries received generators and tool kits.
Each set was valued at ₹60,000.
Azharuddin said the equipment would help beneficiaries pursue self-employment.
He added that the initiative could also help families improve their sources of income.
Azharuddin Highlights Rangareddy’s Employment Potential
Speaking at the event, Mohammed Azharuddin highlighted the rapid development of Rangareddy district.
He said the district has emerged as one of the country’s prosperous regions.
The minister attributed this growth to its diverse and expanding industrial base.
He said industrial development has also created more employment opportunities in the district.
Azharuddin encouraged minority women to take advantage of these opportunities.
He said women are capable workers and have strong professional values.
Creating more employment opportunities for women would also benefit the state’s economy, he added.
Focus on Women’s Economic Empowerment
The minister said the government is committed to improving the economic empowerment of minority women.
He encouraged beneficiaries to use the assistance and equipment productively.
According to Azharuddin, self-employment can help women become financially independent.
He also stressed the importance of providing young people with skills and meaningful opportunities.
“People should be taught how to fish,” he said, stressing the importance of creating sustainable livelihoods.
Such support can help beneficiaries become self-reliant and support others as well, he added.
Praise for CM Revanth Reddy’s Minority Welfare Initiatives
Azharuddin said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has been giving special attention to the economic development of minority women.
He also highlighted the government’s initiatives for the welfare of minority communities.
The minister referred to the government’s response following the Medina bus fire incident.
He said the Chief Minister took an immediate decision to provide compensation to the affected families.
Azharuddin said the decision reflected the government’s commitment to supporting minority families during difficult situations.
He also mentioned the ₹7 crore allocation for Haj-related arrangements.
The minister described the allocation as another indication of the government’s focus on minority welfare.
Azharuddin Recalls His Mother’s Sewing Machine
The minister also shared a personal memory connected with sewing machines.
He recalled how his mother used to stitch clothes for him when he was young.
Azharuddin said sewing machines available at that time were not easy to operate.
Modern machines, he noted, are easier to use and offer several additional features.
‘I Will Hit a Century on Funding Demands’: Azharuddin
Drawing from his cricket career, Azharuddin added a light-hearted remark during his speech.
“I am a Test player. I promise I will also score a century when it comes to demands for funds,” he said.
The former Indian cricketer said he would continue working for the people while he remains in office.
He thanked the people of Telangana for their support throughout his cricket career and political journey.
“I will work for you as long as I remain in office,” he said.
Call for Better Guidance for Youth
Azharuddin also appealed to community leaders and elders to guide young people.
He particularly highlighted the need for greater guidance for youth in the Old City.
He encouraged young people to focus on education, skill development and employment.
He also called for their participation in other productive activities.
TGMFC Chairman Mohammed Obedullah Kotwal thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Minister Mohammed Azharuddin.
He appreciated their support for initiatives aimed at empowering minority communities.
Key Leaders Attend the Programme
Several public representatives and officials attended the programme in Rangareddy.
They included Serilingampally MLA Arekapudi Gandhi, Chief Whip and MLC Patnam Mahender Reddy, and Rajendranagar MLA T. Prakash Goud.
MLC Boggarapu Dayanand, Additional Collector Kiranmayi, IAS, the Rangareddy District Minority Welfare Officer, TGMFC officials and staff were also present.
The programme focused on expanding livelihood opportunities and improving economic support for minority communities in Telangana.
