Telangana to Distribute New Ration Cards After a Decade — Over 5.6 Lakh Issued So Far

In a significant move towards welfare reform, the Telangana government is set to distribute new ration cards after nearly *ten years. The official distribution ceremony will take place on **today, with *Chief Minister Revanth Reddy issuing the new cards at Tirumalagiri Mandal headquarters in Suryapet district.

The distribution marks a new phase in the public distribution system (PDS), aiming to eliminate duplicate records and ensure that benefits reach the rightful families.

Over 5.6 Lakh New Ration Cards Issued

Since *January 26, 2025, the process of issuing new ration cards has been progressing steadily across the state. As of now, the **total number of newly issued or in-process cards has reached 5,61,343, according to official data from the *Civil Supplies Department.

This is a part of the government’s large-scale drive to *clean up the database. Authorities have removed duplicate and fake entries from older ration cards. Following this cleanup, the *current number of beneficiaries stands at 3,09,30,911 individuals.

🗣 CM Revanth Reddy to Launch Official Distribution

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will personally hand over the new cards to beneficiaries in the Tirumalagiri Mandal. Officials stated that this symbolic launch will be followed by phased distribution across all districts.

The scheme is expected to ensure greater food security for low-income families and remove longstanding irregularities in the ration distribution network.
