Verbal Attacks Escalate in Telangana Politics as Leaders Exchange Abuses

*Hyderabad: September 14*The political climate in Telangana has intensified, with heated verbal attacks exchanged between key leaders, as a confrontation between MLAs Kaushik Reddy and Arekapudi Gandhi spiraled into a wider political feud. The ongoing battle of words has dragged in major political figures, leading to a sharp escalation in tensions. The feud began when Gandhi accused Kaushik Reddy of fueling regional sentiments for political advantage. Kaushik Reddy’s questioning of Gandhi’s party affiliations received the backing of BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR), who also raised concerns about Gandhi’s loyalty to the party. In a press conference, KTR took aim at Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of using diversionary tactics to gain media attention. KTR further predicted that Revanth would be remembered as the “most incompetent Chief Minister” in Telangana’s history.KTR compared Revanth Reddy unfavorably to past leaders such as N. Chandrababu Naidu, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, and K. Rosaiah, while also emphasizing the peaceful governance provided by the BRS over the last decade. He accused Congress of trying to incite divisions, particularly the “Andhra-Telangana panchayat,” for political gains. In a sharp rebuttal, Congress Working President Jaggareddy fiercely defended Revanth Reddy, issuing a strong warning to KTR and others who criticized the CM. “Let’s cut the tongues of those who abuse CM Revanth Reddy,” Jaggareddy declared, referring to KTR and others as “a drunken monkey” for their behavior. He also pointed out the double standards, mentioning that while KCR was adorned with a party scarf in the past, the BRS now criticizes Revanth Reddy for draping MLAs with a similar scarf.Congress MLA Naini Rajender Reddy added fuel to the fire, launching a personal attack on Kaushik Reddy. He accused Kaushik of behaving like someone “addicted to drugs” and called for a narcotics test, demanding that Kaushik be socially ostracized for attempting to provoke unrest in an otherwise peaceful state. The escalating verbal exchanges reflect the deepening divisions in Telangana’s political landscape, with tensions expected to rise as leaders continue to trade abuses and counter-abuses in the run-up to the state elections.
