West Bengal: Muslim Family Allegedly Assaulted at Mandarmani Resort After Parking Dispute

Mandarmani, West Bengal: A Muslim family was allegedly assaulted at a resort in West Bengal’s East Midnapore district after a dispute over vehicle parking escalated on September 5.

The incident reportedly took place at Swarnamoyee Beach Resort in Mandarmani, a popular coastal tourist destination.

According to the family, they had visited the resort while looking for accommodation. They reportedly parked their car before entering the property to enquire about rooms.

After finding the rooms unsuitable, the family decided to look for another hotel nearby.

The situation allegedly turned tense when a security guard objected to the vehicle being parked on the road.

Mohammad Asif, one of the family members, alleged that the guard initially asked him to move the car. He said he moved the vehicle but the dispute later escalated.

According to Asif, the security guard allegedly began hitting the car with a stick. When he objected, the confrontation reportedly turned physical.

Family members who tried to intervene were also allegedly assaulted.

Videos purportedly showing the incident have circulated on social media. The footage appears to show a confrontation involving resort staff and members of the family.

The family alleged that elderly people and women were also attacked during the incident. The authenticity and full context of the circulating videos have not been independently verified.

Two Arrested After Complaint

Mandarmani Coastal Police reportedly reached the resort after receiving information about the incident.

Following a complaint from the family, police arrested two people. They were identified as resort manager Bhaskar Biswas and security guard Subrata Ghosh.

Police reportedly produced both accused before a court on September 6. The investigation is continuing.

Authorities are examining the circumstances that led to the parking dispute and the alleged assault.

Hotel Owners’ Association Condemns Incident

The Hotel Owners’ Association has reportedly condemned the alleged assault.

Association secretary Ashok Adak said tourists visiting Mandarmani should be treated as guests. Representatives of the association also visited the resort, according to reports.

The association is expected to seek an explanation from the resort management over the incident.

The case has raised concerns about tourist safety in Mandarmani. It has also drawn attention after videos of the alleged confrontation spread online.

Important: The allegations in this report are based on the family’s complaint and media reports. The police investigation will establish the circumstances and responsibility, if any, of those involved.
