Why Should I Provide Security Without Details?’ Kharge Questions RSS Registration

Bengaluru: Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has urged the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to formally register, emphasizing the need for transparency and accountability while organizing large public gatherings.

Kharge clarified that he is not demanding a ban on the RSS. Instead, he said organizations hosting events attended by lakhs of people should disclose their structure, activities, and sources of funding, particularly when seeking security arrangements from the state.

He stated that the Home Department must know “who they are, what they do, and how they are funded” before providing security. According to Kharge, formal registration would help authorities ensure better coordination and security, while questioning why the government should extend such support without formal compliance.
