PM Modi Launches ₹18,530 Crore Development Projects in Assam, Pays Tribute to Bhupen Hazarika

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for a series of major infrastructure, healthcare, and industrial projects worth over ₹18,530 crore in Assam on Saturday.

Key Projects in Darrang

PM Modi began his day in Darrang, where he laid foundation stones for multiple development works and addressed a large public gathering.

  • Darrang Medical College & Hospital, GNM School, and BSc Nursing College – boosting medical education and healthcare services in Assam.
  • Guwahati Ring Road Project – expected to improve connectivity, ease traffic congestion, and enhance urban mobility around the capital city.
  • Kuruwa–Narengi Bridge over the Brahmaputra – a critical link that will strengthen regional connectivity and promote socio-economic growth.

Clean Energy Push in Golaghat

At *Numaligarh Refinery in Golaghat, PM Modi inaugurated *Assam Bio-ethanol Private Limited’s refinery plant around 1:45 PM. The project aims to promote clean energy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.

Later, at 2:30 PM, he laid the foundation stone for a *Polypropylene Plant at Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL). The plant is expected to add value to Assam’s *petrochemical sector, generate local jobs, and give a major boost to the state’s economy.

“This is an important step towards promoting clean energy. The new Polypropylene Plant at NRL will create opportunities for youth and accelerate regional growth.”

Bhupen Hazarika’s 100th Birth Anniversary

In *Guwahati, the Prime Minister attended the **centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika. He released a *commemorative coin and postal stamp in his honor, calling him a true cultural icon who championed India’s unity and integrity.

“Bhupen Da gave voice to India’s unity even during times when the Northeast suffered neglect and unrest. Today, we are working to fulfill his dream of a prosperous and peaceful Northeast,” PM Modi said.

Upcoming Visits to West Bengal and Bihar

On *September 15, PM Modi will be in *Kolkata to inaugurate the 16th Combined Commanders’ Conference 2025 at 9:30 AM.

Later, he will travel to *Purnea, Bihar, to inaugurate the *new airport terminal at 2:45 PM. He will also lay the foundation stone and launch multiple projects worth ₹36,000 crore.

One of the highlights will be the launch of the National Makhana Board, aimed at supporting Bihar’s farmers and boosting the state’s economy ahead of the upcoming elections.
