Hyderabad: The Telangana government is ready to work with the Indian Army to encourage and support the state’s youth in various Army recruitment drives, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said.
Southern Command General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar, along with senior Army officials, called on the Chief Minister at the Bodhi Pavilion in MCR HRD. Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy was also present.
The Chief Minister urged the Army to conduct training programmes at suitable district headquarters to provide local youth with better opportunities in Army recruitment. Responding positively, Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar said training centres would be established at district headquarters in Telangana ahead of various Army recruitment drives conducted across the country.
The Chief Minister also appreciated the Army’s role in disaster management and urged the force to play a more active role in rescue operations, evacuation and rehabilitation efforts in flood-affected areas of Telangana. Lieutenant General Rajesh Pushkar assured that local Army authorities would be directed to take special initiatives during disaster situations in the state.
The Army commander also appreciated the Telangana government’s efforts to revive the Musi River, stating that its rejuvenation is important for protecting and restoring Hyderabad’s historic character while reducing pollution.
Major General N. Srinivasa Rao, General Officer Commanding, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, along with other senior Army officials, attended the meeting.
