Hyderabad: The 80th Indian Independence Day celebrations were held with great grandeur on Saturday at the CAR Headquarters in Petla Buruju under the aegis of the Hyderabad City Police Commissionerate. City Police Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar, IPS, attended the ceremony as the chief guest, hoisted the national flag and received the guard of honour.
Commissioner Sajjanar paid rich tributes to the freedom fighters and martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence.
On the occasion, certificates of appreciation were presented to 72 police officers and personnel in recognition of their exceptional talent, dedication and commitment to duty.
Speaking at the event, CP Sajjanar announced the establishment of a dedicated H-FAST wing to combat food adulteration and protect public health. He stated that a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against adulterators through coordinated efforts by the Task Force and Food Safety officials.
The Commissioner also appreciated police personnel who worked round-the-clock to ensure the peaceful conduct of major events, including New Year celebrations, Sri Rama Navami and Hanuman Jayanti processions, and the recently concluded historic Ashada Bonalu festival.
He revealed that Operation Octopus has been launched to disrupt the financial networks of cybercriminals. The C-Mitra virtual police officer system, introduced for the first time in the country, has helped register more than 1,700 Zero FIRs and speed up investigations. The AI CopWriter application is also playing an important role in complaint registration.
The Spandana – Tatkshana Rakshana women responder system, inaugurated by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, is providing prompt assistance and handling an average of 30 complaints every day. Plans are also underway to provide specialised driving training to 300 women police personnel.
The H-NEW (Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing) has been further strengthened to combat drug abuse in the city. The Commissioner issued a stern warning that no individual, irrespective of status or influence, would be spared in drug-related cases.
