A fresh political controversy is brewing within the Telangana Congress, with Konda Sushmitha’s recent remarks against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy triggering intense speculation.
The controversy comes amid a series of developments involving Minister Konda Surekha and her family. On August 13, an Andhra Jyothy editorial attributed to Konda Surekha described the government as one led not by a “ruling master” but by a group working together. Just three days later, Surekha reportedly stayed away from Revanth Reddy’s Warangal tour.
Within a week, her daughter Konda Sushmitha directly targeted Revanth Reddy with a series of allegations and questions. She warned that if the Chief Minister responded to her remarks, she would reveal what she described as a “corruption dossier” against him.
Sushmitha also questioned Revanth Reddy’s authority to announce that Revuri Prakash Reddy would contest again from Parkal. She raised questions over an alleged promise to make her father, Konda Murali, an MLC and asked why Congress leaders had allegedly sidelined Shabbir Ali.
She further questioned why photographs of BC ministers were allegedly absent from official government programmes, and why TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud had not responded to the issue.
Another major allegation concerned a ₹200-crore land deal allegedly involving Revanth Reddy’s brother Kondal Reddy. Sushmitha also made an indirect reference to Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, saying the influence surrounding Revanth Reddy would not last forever.
The latest episode has also revived talk of an internal political rift involving Konda Surekha, Seethakka and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, reportedly dating back to differences that emerged around the Medaram Jatara.
Interestingly, while earlier allegations by Sushmitha reportedly did not provoke a strong reaction from the Revanth Reddy camp, her latest remarks have created a fresh political storm. The Congress disciplinary committee has reportedly issued a notice to Konda Surekha, asking her to provide an explanation within three days.
This has fuelled speculation that senior Congress leaders or ministers could be backing the Konda family’s latest political offensive. However, whether there is an organised strategy behind the statements remains unclear, and there is no confirmed evidence establishing that the Congress high command directed or endorsed Sushmitha’s remarks.
The bigger question now is whether the episode will remain a temporary controversy within the Congress or develop into a deeper confrontation between different power centres in the party.
With Revanth Reddy preparing for a foreign tour, the timing of the controversy has added another layer of political speculation
Is this a strategic move, a deliberate warning, or simply an escalation of an ongoing internal Congress dispute?
