Telangana HC Reserves Verdict on Daanam Nagender Disqualification Petition

The Telangana High Court has reserved its verdict on the petition challenging the Speaker’s decision to dismiss the disqualification plea against BRS MLA Daanam Nagender. The final judgment is scheduled to be pronounced on September 16 by the bench headed by Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh.

BRS leaders approached the High Court challenging the Speaker’s decision to reject the disqualification petitions against MLAs who switched parties.

During the hearing, BRS counsel K. Vivek Reddy and Gandra Mohan Rao argued that Daanam Nagender was elected on a BRS ticket, later joined the Congress, and even contested the Lok Sabha elections as a Congress candidate. They contended that despite evidence indicating his defection, the Speaker dismissed the disqualification petition.

Counsel appearing for the MLAs who switched parties argued that they continue to remain members of the BRS.

After hearing arguments from both sides, the High Court reserved its final judgment and posted the matter for September 16
