Telangana CS Reviews El Niño Impact, NEET-PG Exam Arrangements and Tourism Development
Hyderabad, August 25, 2026: Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju on Tuesday held a video conference with district collectors from the Dr BR Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat to review seasonal conditions in the state, arrangements for the upcoming NEET-PG entrance examination and measures to develop tourism destinations across Telangana.
Focus on El Niño Impact and Crop Diversification
Reviewing the seasonal situation, the Chief Secretary directed district collectors to create greater awareness among farmers about crop diversification and new agricultural practices in view of the expected impact of El Niño.
He sought details from collectors on district-wise weather conditions and the precautionary measures being taken to prevent inconvenience to the public. Officials were instructed to continuously monitor weather conditions and take immediate action wherever necessary.
In view of the possibility of deficient rainfall, Sanjay Jaju asked officials to effectively implement contingency crop plans. He stressed the need to encourage farmers to cultivate crops requiring less water and better suited to prevailing weather conditions.
As part of the crop diversification strategy, collectors and Agriculture Department officials were directed to conduct field-level awareness programmes to promote pulses, oilseeds, vegetables and horticultural crops.
NEET-PG Exam Arrangements Reviewed
The Chief Secretary also reviewed preparations for the NEET-PG entrance examination scheduled for August 30. He directed officials to ensure that the examination is conducted smoothly and without any disruptions.
Collectors were instructed to ensure adequate infrastructure, security, electricity, drinking water and transportation facilities at examination centres. Officials from all concerned departments were asked to coordinate closely to ensure a peaceful and well-organised examination.
The examination will be conducted in Hyderabad, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Rangareddy districts, besides 30 other centres across the state. The Chief Secretary directed collectors to ensure tight security, uninterrupted power supply and all necessary basic facilities at the examination centres.
Planned Measures to Boost Telangana Tourism
Sanjay Jaju also reviewed measures for tourism development under the Telangana Tourism 2047 policy. He directed district collectors to identify major tourist destinations in their respective districts and focus on improving infrastructure, connectivity, cleanliness and visitor amenities.
He said the state’s historical, cultural, natural and other unique tourism attractions should be developed in coordination with the concerned departments.
The Chief Secretary said 27 Special Tourism Areas (STAs) have been identified in Telangana and called upon district collectors to work towards developing these destinations and strengthening the state’s tourism sector.
He further stated that the Telangana Tourism 2047 vision would help expand the Telangana brand at the national and international levels. Officials were asked to prepare suitable plans for promoting spiritual tourism, heritage tourism, ecotourism and crafts tourism across the state.
Special CS (YATC) Vani Prasad, Medical and Health Department Principal Secretary Christina Chongthu, Agriculture Department Secretary Surendra Mohan, Police Department DG Mahesh Bhagwat and other senior officials participated in the video conference.
