Maoist Setback: Hidma’s Gunman Surrenders Along With Two Cadres

Polavaram: The Maoist party has suffered another setback after three cadres surrendered before the police on Wednesday.
Muchika Mangi, who reportedly served as the personal gunman of senior Maoist commander Madvi Hidma, laid down his arms.
Two other cadres, identified as Lakshmayya and Enka, also surrendered along with him.
According to reports, Mangi was a member of the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA). He was allegedly involved in seven major encounters with security forces.
The three surrendered before the Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in Polavaram district. Police said they would receive rehabilitation benefits under the government’s surrender and rehabilitation policy.
Hidma’s Close Aide Gives Up Arms
Mangi was reportedly among Hidma’s trusted security personnel during his time in the Maoist movement.
His surrender is being viewed as a significant development for security agencies operating in the agency areas.
Madvi Hidma was a prominent Maoist commander who led PLGA Battalion No. 1, one of the outfit’s key armed units. He was killed in an encounter with security forces in Andhra Pradesh in November 2025.
The surrender of cadres linked to the Maoist leadership could further weaken the organisation’s presence in forested areas.
Rehabilitation Offered to Surrendered Cadres
Police said the surrendered cadres would be provided assistance under applicable government rehabilitation measures.
Such schemes are aimed at helping former insurgents leave armed activities and return to civilian life.
The latest surrender comes amid continued security operations and efforts to encourage underground cadres to give up arms.
The development is expected to draw attention in the agency areas, where security forces have been working to reduce Maoist activity.
