TN Assembly: CM Vijay Says Tamil Nadu’s 8 Crore People Are His Family, Vows Tough Action Against Corruption
Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay delivered a strong message against corruption in the State Assembly, declaring that Tamil Nadu was his home and its people were his family.
“Tamil Nadu is my house, and its eight crore people are my relatives. This government is for them, and I will not spare anyone who indulges in corruption,” Vijay said during his address in the Assembly.
The Chief Minister also took aim at the opposition DMK during the heated political exchange. He referred to the Sarkaria Commission report, which dates back several decades, as part of his criticism of the previous regime.
Vijay’s remarks come amid an increasingly sharp political battle between the ruling TVK-led government and the DMK in the Tamil Nadu Assembly. Earlier, the Chief Minister had also said that he possessed files containing alleged evidence of corruption during the previous DMK government and would reveal them at an appropriate time.
The Assembly has recently witnessed repeated confrontations between the ruling side and the opposition over governance, alleged irregularities and corruption claims. Vijay’s latest statement signals that the issue is likely to remain a major political flashpoint in Tamil Nadu.
By describing the people of Tamil Nadu as his relatives, Vijay sought to underline his government’s commitment to public welfare and accountability. His warning against corruption also appeared aimed at reinforcing the administration’s tough political and governance stance.
The DMK has been at the centre of Vijay’s recent criticism in the Assembly. Political tensions between the two sides have intensified as the new government continues to face scrutiny from the opposition.
CM Vijay’s Anti-Corruption Message
Vijay’s statement is expected to further fuel the political confrontation between the ruling TVK and the opposition DMK.
His government has repeatedly maintained that corruption and administrative irregularities will face strict action. The Chief Minister’s latest remarks in the Assembly have now added fresh momentum to that campaign.
The political significance of the Sarkaria Commission reference is also likely to trigger further debate in Tamil Nadu. As the Assembly session continues, the war of words between the government and the opposition is expected to remain intense.
