Chandrababu Naidu recently announced that the scheme will officially commence from Diwali, bringing relief to millions of households across the state. The state’s Civil Supplies Department is currently preparing an operational plan for the smooth rollout of the scheme. There are 1.55 crore household cooking gas connections in Andhra Pradesh, with an estimated 1.47 crore families eligible to benefit based on their possession of white ration cards. Each family will receive three free LPG cylinders per year, translating to a direct benefit of Rs. 2,476.50 annually, given the current price of Rs. 825.50 per cylinder in Vijayawada.According to the Civil Supplies Department, the estimated cost of implementing the scheme will be approximately Rs. 3,640 crore annually. The department is working to ensure that the distribution process is efficient and that all eligible households receive the benefit in a timely manner. The scheme, a key component of the NDA government’s welfare initiatives, aims to reduce the financial burden on households, particularly amid fluctuating cooking gas prices. The initiative is expected to significantly improve household savings and enhance the overall welfare of low-income families in the state.
