KTR Files Defamation Case Against Minister Konda Surekha Over Controversial Remarks

*Hyderabad, October 2024* – Telangana’s former Minister K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) has filed a defamation petition in the Nampally Court against state minister Konda Surekha, following a series of controversial comments made by her. The legal action comes in response to Surekha’s allegations of phone tapping during KTR’s tenure, and claims linking him to the personal lives of actors Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Naga Chaitanya.According to KTR’s legal notice, Konda Surekha made baseless accusations by dragging his name into the breakup of the celebrity couple. The notice also highlighted that Surekha falsely accused KTR of phone tapping, further claiming that her statements were intended to tarnish his public image. KTR expressed disappointment over Surekha’s use of a personal issue involving actors to malign his character, particularly noting the involvement of another woman’s name in the controversy.KTR strongly denied the allegations, stating that Surekha’s remarks were entirely false and lacked any credible evidence. He accused her of abusing her ministerial position to make misleading statements, which were widely circulated by both traditional and social media platforms. “When a public official makes unverified claims, they can easily mislead the public,” the notice stated.In a separate but related case, the Nampally Special Magistrate Court also issued notices to Konda Surekha following a defamation case filed by actor Akkineni Nagarjuna. This case pertains to additional comments made by Surekha involving the actor and his family. The court has scheduled the next hearing for October 23, 2024.KTR’s petition, alongside Nagarjuna’s, marks a significant escalation in the legal confrontation, as both figures seek justice for what they describe as malicious and defamatory attacks.The case continues to draw public attention as both sides prepare to present their arguments in court later this month.
