*Hyderabad, Sept 9, 2024:* BJP leader and Member of Parliament, Laxman, made key remarks regarding the recent wave of defections among MLAs. In a statement, he criticized the behavior of politicians who, after winning elections on one party’s symbol, defect to another, calling it “shameful” and a betrayal of voters’ trust.Laxman expressed support for the court’s recent verdict on the defection of MLAs, stating, “We welcome the court’s judgment on MLA defections. It is a matter of integrity to remain loyal to the party symbol under which one wins.” Drawing a contrast with his own party, Laxman highlighted the BJP’s commitment to principles, referencing former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s government. “Vajpayee lost power by just one seat, yet we never resorted to defections. BJP is a party that adheres to principles,” he said.He further criticized the current political leadership, claiming that chief ministers and ministers frequently run to Delhi for personal gain while neglecting their responsibilities toward the people.Laxman’s comments come at a time of heightened political tension, as multiple MLAs have been switching party allegiances ahead of the upcoming elections.
