**Vijayawada, September 13, 2024** – A major fire broke out in an SR College bus on the Kotikalapudi-Ketanakonda road near Gollapudi on Friday evening. The incident occurred on a bridge while the bus was transporting students from the college. Fortunately, all the students were safely evacuated, with no casualties reported.The bus, which had previously been flooded during the recent rains, had undergone repairs and was back in service. However, shortly after picking up students from the college and while on the way to drop them off, smoke began to emanate from the engine compartment. Within moments, the fire spread rapidly, engulfing the vehicle in flames.Alert to the situation, the driver quickly stopped the bus and ensured that all the students were safely evacuated. Emergency services were alerted, but despite efforts, the bus was completely consumed by the fire.While the cause of the fire is yet to be determined, initial reports suggest a possible malfunction in the engine that had been repaired after the flooding incident.
