Complaint Filed Against Justice S.K. Yadav for Alleged Code of Conduct Violations

The Campaign for Judicial Accountability and Reforms (CJAR) has filed a formal complaint with the Chief Justice of India (CJI) against Justice S.K. Yadav of . The complaint calls for an in-house inquiry and the immediate suspension of the judge for allegedly violating the code of conduct for judges.

The allegations stem from remarks made by Justice Yadav during a public meeting organized by an RSS-affiliated body. According to the complaint, the remarks were described as “blatantly communal,” raising concerns about judicial neutrality and impartiality. Such statements, CJAR contends, undermine public confidence in the judiciary and contravene the ethical standards expected of judges.

CJAR has urged the CJI to take swift action, emphasizing the need to maintain the independence and credibility of the judiciary. The organization also highlighted the importance of holding judges accountable for conduct that could potentially damage the institution’s reputation.

Justice S.K. Yadav has not yet responded to the allegations. The Supreme Court is expected to deliberate on whether to initiate an inquiry into the matter, which could set a precedent for dealing with similar allegations in the future.

This case has sparked a broader debate on the responsibilities and limitations of judicial officers in engaging with political or ideological groups. Legal experts and civil society groups have emphasized the critical need for judges to remain apolitical and uphold the principles of secularism and impartiality enshrined in the Constitution.
