On *July 18, Singh will officially launch the **newly built INS Nistar, a warship constructed entirely with **indigenous technology, at the **Naval Dockyard in Visakhapatnam. This ship adds a significant boost to India’s *Make in India defense initiative.
The new INS Nistar will operate under the Eastern Naval Command, headquartered in Visakhapatnam. Its launch highlights India’s growing capabilities in self-reliant defense manufacturing.
INS Nistar also carries a powerful legacy. During the *1971 India-Pakistan war, its earlier version played a key role in neutralizing *Pakistan’s submarine PNS Ghazi, which attempted to attack India’s eastern coastline, including Visakhapatnam.
This visit by the Defence Minister not only celebrates a technological milestone but also commemorates a crucial naval victory that shaped India’s maritime strength.
