*New Delhi, Sep 17*: In a surprising turn of events, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will resign from his post today, sparking speculation as to who will take over the leadership of the national capital. Kejriwal will meet the Lt Governor at 4:30 pm today and formally tender his resignation. Several key ministers, including Atshi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, Gopal Rai, and Kailash Gehlot, are reportedly in the running to become the next chief minister. However, no official announcement has been made regarding Kejriwal’s successor. In his resignation statement, Kejriwal made it clear that he would return to the post of chief minister only after the public mandate. He also called for Delhi Assembly elections to be held alongside the upcoming Maharashtra elections, expressing dissatisfaction with the current schedule, in which the Delhi polls are scheduled for February. Kejriwal’s resignation comes as he is serving a six-month term as a remand prisoner in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case. His fate, and possibly his political future, will be decided in the upcoming Delhi Assembly elections. Delhi’s political landscape is now full of uncertainty as parties and candidates prepare for high-profile elections.
