Telangana Government to Issue Ration and Health Cards to BPL Families Starting October

*Hyderabad, September 16*: Telangana State Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy announced that ration cards and health cards will soon be provided to eligible families living below the poverty line (BPL) across the state. The announcement was made on Monday during the 4th meeting of the ministerial sub-committee at Erramanzil Jalasoudha.Applications for these cards will be accepted starting in October, with the initiative aimed at ensuring essential services reach every deserving household. Currently, the state has 89.96 lakh ration cards benefiting around 2.81 crore people. The minister assured that all eligible families will receive their cards, in line with the promises made by the Congress party.State Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy also participated in the meeting and highlighted that the criteria for issuing white ration cards will be finalized by next month. He stressed that the distribution process will be conducted with full transparency, and the government plans to introduce smart cards for both ration and health services.This initiative is expected to significantly improve access to food security and healthcare for the state’s BPL families.
