*Guntur, September 8, 2024* – In a significant breakthrough, the Ponnur town police have arrested five members of a gang involved in the sensational gold shop theft that occurred recently in Ponnur town, Guntur district. The accused were caught by the police after a detailed investigation that linked the crime to a group operating across Maharashtra and Rajasthan.Tenali DSP B. Janardhan Rao revealed the details of the case during a press conference held at the Ponnur Urban Police Station on Saturday. He informed that a total of seven individuals from the two states had formed a gang specifically to carry out the heist. The gang managed to steal a substantial amount of valuables, creating widespread concern in the region.The police successfully recovered a used car that the criminals had used to commit the crime, along with 24 kg of stolen silver worth ₹21 lakh, and six cell phones. The remaining two accused are still at large, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.Speaking at the press conference, DSP Janardhan praised the work of Ponnur Urban CI Ravi Kiran, the crime party, and the station staff, who played a pivotal role in cracking the case and bringing the culprits to justice. The arrested individuals were presented before the media, marking a significant step toward solving the case and restoring public confidence.The police are continuing their investigation to trace the rest of the gang members and recover any additional stolen goods.
