*Hyderabad, September 8, 2024* – The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRAA) has directed Jayabheri Constructions, a company owned by actor Murali Mohan, to remove illegal encroachments around the Rangalal Kunta pond, located in the Gachibowli Financial District. The encroachments in question involve blue sheet walls built two meters into the Full Tank Level (FTL) of the lake and in its buffer zone.HYDRAA Commissioner AV Ranganath clarified that the encroachments were discovered after local residents lodged complaints about unauthorized structures near the pond. Although no permanent constructions were identified in the lake area, the blue sheet walls violate FTL regulations.”We have given them a 15-day deadline to remove the encroachments. If they fail to comply, HYDRAA will step in and carry out the demolition ourselves,” Commissioner Ranganath stated. He further mentioned that Jayabheri Constructions has verbally assured the authorities of their cooperation and promised to take down the structures within the given timeframe.HYDRAA, though not yet empowered to issue formal notices, took swift action based on local complaints and the need to protect the city’s water bodies. The agency remains committed to preserving Hyderabad’s lakes and ponds, which are crucial for environmental sustainability and flood prevention. The Rangalal Kunta pond is one of the key water bodies in the Gachibowli area, which has seen rapid urban development in recent years. The removal of these encroachments is expected to help maintain the natural flow of water and prevent further environmental degradation.
