Hyderabad: Telangana Government Special Representative and Sports Affairs Advisor A.P. Jithender Reddy met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at his official residence in New Delhi and urged the Centre to formally approve the Hyderabad–Bengaluru Defence Industrial Corridor.
Jithender Reddy, accompanied by Khammam MP R. Raghuram Reddy and Mahabubabad MP Balram Naik, reiterated Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s request to notify the proposed corridor as a Defence and Aerospace Corridor of the Government of India, on the lines of existing corridors in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
He highlighted Hyderabad’s strong aerospace and defence ecosystem, including major defence PSUs, DRDO laboratories and more than 1,500 aerospace and defence MSMEs. Telangana also recorded 100% growth in aerospace and defence exports during 2025–26, according to the statement.
Jithender Reddy said the corridor would boost indigenous defence manufacturing, research and development, infrastructure and capacity building, while strengthening India’s defence preparedness and the Make in India initiative.
