Hyderabad: Internal differences within the Telangana Congress are reportedly intensifying, with senior party leaders allegedly expressing dissatisfaction over Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s style of functioning.
According to political sources, senior leaders including Uttam Kumar Reddy and Mahesh Kumar Goud have reportedly raised several issues before the Congress high command. The complaints are said to include alleged interference in other ministers’ portfolios, appointments to key posts and growing dissatisfaction among party workers.
Uttam Kumar Reddy is reportedly said to have stressed that “this is a Congress government, not Revanth Reddy’s government,” while expressing objections to what he allegedly described as excessive interference in the functioning of different departments.
Mahesh Kumar Goud is also reportedly believed to have raised concerns over appointments to the Yadadri temple trust board, alleging that party workers who had worked for the Congress for years were overlooked. According to reports, he claimed that such decisions were creating dissatisfaction among grassroots workers.
Congress Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan reportedly acknowledged that concerns regarding appointments and dissatisfaction among leaders and workers had also come to her notice.
Meanwhile, political circles are discussing an alleged exchange of sharp remarks between Revanth Reddy and senior party leaders. Reports claim that after returning from the Congress coordination committee meeting, the Chief Minister interacted informally with journalists at MCR HRD and reportedly expressed his displeasure over criticism from some senior leaders.
There are also unverified reports of Mahesh Kumar Goud cautioning Revanth Reddy during a private gathering, allegedly telling him to be careful about remarks being made about him.
At the same time, there is speculation within political circles that Minister Seethakka is also unhappy with certain aspects of the Chief Minister’s functioning. However, there has been no official confirmation of these claims.
Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka is reportedly among the ministers who continue to strongly support Revanth Reddy. Political circles have also been discussing the contrasting positions taken by different leaders within the state cabinet.
Another major point of discussion is the alleged existence of two competing camps within the Telangana Congress. Some long-time Congress leaders are reportedly describing themselves as the “Pandava” group, while leaders who joined the Congress from other political parties are being portrayed by their rivals as the “Kaurava” group.
Meanwhile, claims are circulating that internal surveys have allegedly raised concerns about the Congress’s electoral prospects if elections were held immediately. However, the authenticity of such surveys and the reported figure of the party winning fewer than 20 seats could not be independently verified.
The Congress high command is reportedly weighing the political consequences of any major leadership change in Telangana. Party leaders are also said to be concerned about issues including allegations of corruption against ministers, controversies surrounding HYDRA and growing dissatisfaction among sections of the party cadre.
